Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and befyr when you use the hosted almost.sh service: the event relay, the team board and channel delivery. The almost CLI is a separate thing under a separate licence, and using it requires no agreement with us at all.

Effective Privacy policy

00The short version

A plain reading of the parts people actually care about. It is a summary and not the agreement itself: the numbered clauses below are what you are agreeing to.

The CLI is not covered here
It is MIT licensed and runs with no account, no key and no network. Install it, fork it, ship it. These terms cover the hosted board and the relay behind it.
Your events stay yours
We process them to run the service and to deliver them where you point them. We do not sell them and we do not train models on them.
It is a signal, not a safety system
Notifications are best effort. Do not put almost anywhere a late or missed alert causes harm.
Leaving takes one click
Delete your team and its projects, boards, events and keys go with it. Nothing is held back to make you stay.

01The agreement

almost.sh is operated by befyr. By creating an account, connecting a project or sending events to our API, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the hosted service. The CLI still works without it.

If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind it, and “you” means that company.

02What it covers

The hosted service is the API that receives agent events, the team board they land on, and the delivery of those events to the channels you configure. It is proprietary software run by us.

The almost CLI is published under the MIT licence: the hook installers, the desktop banner, the privacy filter and almost preview. That licence is the whole agreement for the CLI, and nothing here adds to it or takes anything away from it.

03Accounts

Sign-in is a link sent to your email address; there is no password to choose or lose. You are responsible for the mailbox that receives it.

An ingest key is a credential. Anyone holding one can post events to that project's board, so treat it like a token and not like a project name. Keys are per project and can be rotated. If one leaks, rotate it and tell us at [email protected].

You are responsible for what is done under your account and your keys, including by your team and by your automation.

04Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Send events you have no right to send, or route content through us that is unlawful where you or your recipients are.
  • Attempt to reach another team's board, keys or events.
  • Probe, overload or work around the rate limits, or use the relay as general-purpose message infrastructure.
  • Resell access to the relay as your own product.

We may rate-limit, suspend or remove anything that breaks this, and we will tell you why when we can do so safely.

05Your data

You keep every right you have in what you send. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service: to store your events, show them on your board, and deliver them to the channels you have configured.

We do not sell your data and we do not train models on it. What we hold, and for how long, is set out in the privacy policy.

06Channels

When you connect Slack, Discord, Telegram or your own endpoint, you are instructing us to send your events there. From the moment they arrive, that provider's terms and privacy practices apply, not ours. Choose channels the same way you would choose where to paste a build log.

07Availability

The service is offered on a best-effort basis with no uptime commitment. We will add, change and remove features, and we will give reasonable notice before removing something you depend on where we can.

Delivery depends on networks and providers we do not control. An event can be delayed or lost, and the design assumes that: nothing in almost should be the only thing standing between a problem and a person.

08Fees

Paid plans are priced where you buy them, are charged in advance for the period you choose, and exclude any tax we are required to add. Cancel whenever you like and access runs to the end of the period already paid for.

If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, your statutory rights, including the right of withdrawal where it applies, are untouched by anything in this clause.

09Ending it

You can stop at any time by deleting your team, which deletes its projects, boards, events and keys.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks clause 04, that creates a security or legal risk, or that has not paid. Except where the risk is immediate, we will contact you first. On closure your data is deleted within 30 days, other than what we must keep by law.

10No warranty

The hosted service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

almost is a notification tool. It is not a monitoring, alerting or safety system. Do not rely on it for medical, financial, industrial, transport or any other purpose where a missed, late or wrong notification could cause injury, loss or damage.

11Liability

Neither side is liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost revenue or lost data arising from the hosted service. Our total liability in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in that period and €100.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law: death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any statutory right you hold as a consumer.

12Indemnity

If a third party brings a claim against us because of content you routed through the service or because you used it unlawfully, you will cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it. We will tell you promptly and let you take charge of the defence.

13Changes

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. For a change that materially affects you, we will email account holders at least 14 days before it takes effect. Using the service after that date means you accept the new version; if you would rather not, delete your team before it lands.

14Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Sweden, and disputes go to the courts of Stockholm, Sweden. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
